Everyone that is involved in transportation has to make sure that the regulations are followed. If a transgression is discovered, everyone who has a possibility to affect the outcome can be hold responsible.
The driver is allowed to drive up to 9 hours a day. After a maximum of 4,5 hours of driving a break of at least 45 minutes has to be taken. The break can be split in two parts where the last one has to be at least 30 minutes. After a total of 45 minutes break a new driving period of a maximum of 4,5 hours can be started. If any part of the drivers work is done under the period 01:00 am to 05:00 am the total working time must, from start to finish, not be longer than 10 hours during a 24-hour period.
For every 24 hour period the driver must have a continuous break of at least 11 hours. A weekly break of 45 hours must be started within 144 hours of the last weekly rest period. Every second week the weekly rest period can be shortened to a minimum of 24 hours.
